Beacon Bay is one of the most gorgeous small communities in the Newport Beach area. This neighborhood embodies the beach life as it is surrounded by sand and the Pacific Ocean. People call Beacon Bay home because it is such a quiet and soothing area with wonderful waterfront homes. It is a great place to raise a family.

The majority of the buildings in this community is residential although there are some restaurants and small businesses in the area. Although it is very quaint, Beacon Bay is nearby all of the action-packed fun activities and shops in Newport Beach. There is always something to do. You can go to some of the most popular restaurants on the coast such as SOL Mexican Cocina, 3 Thirty 3 Waterfront, Galley Cafe, and Bayside. If you love to golf, then Beacon Bay is only a mile away from the Newport Beach Country Club.

As this small neighborhood is full of families, Beacon Bay welcomes family-friendly activities and events. Many residents have to travel out of the neighborhood because the majority of the community amenities they need are in other neighborhoods close by. Beacon Bay is a gated and guarded community, which adds exclusivity.

Residents are able to keep out unwanted guests and traffic, which eliminates any outside crime. Families in this area love the outdoors because they live on a a tranquil island. People can’t help but to take advantage of the scenic views, sandy beach, summer boating, and grassland walking trails.

Beacon Bay’s earthquake index is 32.53. This index is a great deal higher than both California’s index of 21.80 and the U.S. index of 1.81. In other words, living in Beacon Bay comes with a high chance of experiencing tremors.

Although Beacon Bay’s surrounding area has a lower tornado index than the U.S. index, the neighborhood’s 43.10 index is over twice the state’s index. Simply put, Beacon Bay has higher odds of experiencing tornado activity than the majority of residential areas in California.

Weather extremes recorded in the area between 1950 and 2010 show thunderstorms and floods account for roughly 50% of extreme events.

Commute

Despite Beacon Bay being located on the coast of Newport Beach, residents can still easily commute in and out of the neighborhood. Also, you can easily drive to different Orange County cities. The major road in the community is Harbor Island Road, which runs along the north part of the community and travels north to intersect with Bayside Drive.

Bayside Drive runs right into the Pacific Coast Highway (PCH). PCH is a state highway that runs along the coast. This highway allows people to get to different cities in California from San Francisco all the way to San Diego.

Crime Rate

Beacon Bay’s estimated crime index is 1,076.08, which is lower than California’s index of 1,700.60 and the national index of 1,669.05.

However, the local hate crime index tracks higher than statewide and national averages. For reference, the local hate crime index is 51.67, which is about twice the U.S. index. To compare, California’s same index sits at 28.33.

Newport Beach has a lower law enforcement employees index than that of California and the U.S. This finding means there is a lower density of law enforcement employees in this residential area than is average for both the state and the country.

Education

SCHOOLS IN Beacon Bay

For families who favor public schooling, Beacon Bay students are zoned to enroll in schools within the Newport-Mesa Unified School District. Both Costa Mesa and Newport Beach students attend these schools. The district has primary and secondary education available. Newport-Mesa is considered one of the biggest school districts in the county.

It has 32 schools, which includes four high schools, two middle schools, twenty-two elementary schools, an adult education center, and an alternative education center. Each school within this district has a mission to ensure that the students are learning the curriculum material and growing as scholars. Many of them offer after school clubs and activities to enrich the students’ learning experiences.

There are families in Beacon Bay who choose not to enroll their students in public schools. They can always apply for their students to enroll in one of Newport Beach’s stellar private schools that ignite students’ academic ambitions.

ELEMENTARY
Harbor View Elementary School at 900 Goldenrod Avenue: Serving Beacon Bay kindergarten through fifth-grade students, Harbor View Elementary School challenges them to work hard and go above and beyond to achieve academic success. Subject classes as well as enrichment programs and clubs are equally important to the staff members at Harbor View. This school teaches students technology, basic mathematics, social studies, reading, and writing. Outside of academia, students can sign up for after school clubs like drama, choir, band, and student council. At a young age, Harbor View teaches students how to prioritize school work while exploring their interests. Each year, this elementary school has a theater production. MIDDLE
Ensign Intermediate School at 2000 Cliff Drive: One of the best middle schools within a five miles radius is Ensign Intermediate School. This school matures its students and prepares them for life as a future high school student. They learn accountability and responsibility for maintaining good grades and taking initiative to make their academic experiences meaningful. Students can only participate in activities if their grades are acceptable. Ensign offers French and Spanish classes to give students the opportunity to learn some new languages. School officials successfully to turn these students into scholars. After school, students can try out for sports teams including soccer, volleyball, basketball, and track. Corona del Mar Middle School at 2985 Bear Street: Another popular middle school for Beacon Bay students to attend is Corona del Mar Middle School. Students love this school because it has a wide variety of different clubs, activities, and sports. Corona enforces a GPA requirement policy that ensure that students participating in after school programs are able to juggle them with their school work. Students can sign up or try out for sports teams such as soccer, basketball, track, volleyball, and cheerleading. Corona del Mar Middle School has several world language courses that students can choose from when they are picking a language elective: Spanish, Mandarin, or French.
HIGH
Corona del Mar High School at 2985 Bear Street: High school students in the Beacon Bay area can enroll in Corona del Mar High School. It is only three miles away from the neighborhood, which makes it a quick commute. Students who are interested in taking their academics to the next level can sign up for Advanced Placement courses. These courses are designed to prepared high school students for college courses at universities. They can even earn college credit if they pass the final exam with a high score. Students in Beacon Bay will have the opportunity to earn scholarships that will help them pay for college. This high school is very prestigious and takes educating high school students seriously. School officials push for their students to set goals and reach them. Along with the core curriculum, Newport Harbor High School students have fine arts, music, theater, technology, and other courses. The school has an Associated Student Body that acts as the student government, plans the student events, and advocates for student needs.
PRIVATE
Harbor Day School at 3443 Pacific View Drive: Harbor Day School is a private school that teaches primary and secondary education. For Beacon Bay students in grades kindergarten through eighth, this school has plenty of engaging core and elective courses. This is a secular private school. It has a six-acre lot that is great for sports and outdoor after school programs. Harbor Day has been serving students in the Newport Beach area for more than 60 years. Students can connect with their instructors. Harbor Day has many different courses such as wood shop, extensive technology, and fine arts. Also, it offers world language courses including Chinese, Spanish, and Latin. Carden Hall at 1541 Monrovia Avenue: Although Carden Hall is a small private school with only over 400 students enrolled, it supplies plenty of sports, after school activities, and engaging courses for its students. Beacon Bay kindergarten through eighth grade students can be enrolled if accepted into this school. This private school is faith-based while still using the subject core curriculum to teach students about the world around them. Homes like these are more upscale and families who value elegance and luxury want quality amenities and features. Single-family houses that have lower prices can be priced as low as $2 million. These cheaper homes are still luxurious and have expansive architecture, spacious rooms, and features that captivate the eye.

Beacon Bay Homes for Sale

Located near Harbor Island, Beacon Bay has over 70 homes in the area. They are all facing the bay and walking distance from the beach and ocean. This quaint neighborhood has homes within gated communities. Most of them are cape cod cottage style while the newly constructed homes are more contemporary and custom.

All of the residential buildings are in walking distance of Beacon Bay restaurants and different activities. This gives families the options to either walk to their destinations or drive there.
