It is so tranquil and a perfect place to raise a family. Belcourt is aesthetically pleasing with its many water features and maintained landscapes. This neighborhood happens to be near Fashion Island, which is a premier shopping center that has elegant outdoor shopping with high-end boutiques, dining, and other entertainment. Also, the Belcourt area is close to some of Newport Beach’s greatest primary and secondary public and private schools. Students can receive quality education and grow in a wonderful environment.

The Belcourt area is a small residential community full of individuals and families who desire the better things in life. Unsurprisingly for a California neighborhood, Belcourt is more likely to experience some level of earthquake activity than the majority of areas nationally. Between 1950 and 2010, 140 earthquakes were recorded in the area that reached magnitudes of 3.5 or greater.

Other natural events known to hit Belcourt include thunderstorms and high winds. Combined with hail storms, these weather extremes account for tens of thousands of dollars in property damages on an annual basis.

Floods are also seasonal concerns for residents. Meanwhile, wildfires can spread close to Belcourt. Between 1950 and 2010, 37 reported wildfires affected Newport Beach’s neighborhoods. Residents should be cautiously on the lookout for emergency alerts.

Commute

Because this neighborhood is on the mainland, it is near different major roads and highways. Belcourt is in close proximity to the California State Route 73, or State Route 73 (SR 73). SR 73 runs within Orange County and begins in Costa Mesa, joining Interstate 45 and ends in San Juan Capistrano in junction with Interstate 5.

To the left, Belcourt sits along MacArthur Boulevard, which allows residents and visitors access to different restaurants in Newport Beach. Jamboree Road is a major road to the right of Belcourt and runs from the coast near Bayside Cove to the city of Orange.

SCHOOLS IN Belcourt

Students who live in Belcourt are zoned to attend public schools within the Newport-Mesa Unified School District, which serves students in both Newport Beach and Costa Mesa. This school district has 32 schools, ranging from grades kindergarten through twelfth.

It has twenty-two elementary schools, two middle schools, and four high schools. It also has an alternative education and adult education center. Newport-Mesa might not be the largest school district in California, but it is the largest one in Orange County. East Bluff Elementary School at 2627 Vista Del Oro: East Bluff Elementary School serves students in the Belcourt community as well as other parts of Newport Beach. East Bluff has enrichment and additional programs such as early childhood development education, educational technology, Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) program, and more. Students can participate in extracurricular activities such as chess club and Battle of the Books (BOB). In BOB, students form groups with their peers and to compete in a fun book knowledge tournament. Andersen Elementary School at 1900 Port Seabourne Way: Only minutes away from Belcourt, Andersen Elementary School is a great primary schools for students in grades kindergarten through sixth. Andersen is a prestigious public school that has received the California Distinguished School award for 1987, 2002, 2008 and 2014. Instructors teach the core subject curriculum as well as the electives such as art and technology. This school has awesome extracurricular clubs and sports such as soccer, softball, robotics, and Spanish. The Spanish club at Andersen offer opportunities for students to learn conversational Spanish as well the play games and learn the history, art, music, and stories of the different Hispanic cultures.
MIDDLE
Corona del Mar Middle School at 2985 Bear Street: Students who live in the Belcourt area can attend the Corona del Mar Middle School. Parents favor this school because it has plenty of extracurricular activities such as after school programs and sports. The school administrators ensure that students that participate in these activities are able to successfully balance coursework and their activities outside of the classrooms. The after school sports programs that Corona del Mar Middle School offer include track, volleyball, basketball, cheerleading, soccer, and more. Ensign Intermediate School at 2000 Cliff Drive: Ensign Intermediate School is a public school within the Newport-Mesa Unified School District that has dedicated teachers and staff members. Newport Christian School at 1000 Bison Avenue: Newport Christian School is a private school that enrolls students in primary and secondary schools. Kindergarten through eleventh grade students are eligible. School officials are working towards having all grades available for students. This school has been expanding since it was established in 1980. Newport Christian School is one of the most popular private schools in the Newport Beach because it has various electives and student clubs to choose from. This school is a faith-based institution that combines Christian values and with secular standard curriculum. Students will study subjects such as foreign language, Bible, reading, writing, science, history, and mathematics. Halstrom Academy - Newport Beach, 2302 Martin, Suite 100: Halstrom Academy in Newport Beach is a school that serves students in middle and high school grades.
