Overview: Belcourt is known has one of the most sought out communities in Newport Beach. Location: The Belcourt neighborhood is located in the northeast part of Newport Beach in southern California. It is southwest to Irvine, a major master-planned city in Orange County. Directly south of the neighborhood is Big Canyon, which is home to the famous Big Canyon Country Club. Also, the Belcourt community is located about two miles northeast of Fashion Island and less than a mile from the Arroyo Park. It is surrounded by plenty of recreational parks. If you are driving out of Newport Beach, Costa Mesa is over six miles west and Santa Ana is more than 11 miles north of Belcourt.

Commutes: Because this neighborhood is on the mainland, it is near different major roads and highways. Belcourt is in close proximity to the California State Route 73, or State Route 73 (SR 73). SR 73 runs within Orange County and begins in Costa Mesa, joining Interstate 45 and ends in San Juan Capistrano in junction with Interstate 5. To the left, Belcourt sits along MacArthur Boulevard, which allows residents and visitors access to different restaurants in Newport Beach. Jamboree Road is a major road to the right of Belcourt and runs from the coast near Bayside Cove to the city of Orange.

School faculty members strive to teach their students how to balance creative and fun activities and their course load. East Bluff has enrichment and additional programs such as early childhood development education, educational technology, Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) program, and more. Students can participate in extracurricular activities such as chess club and Battle of the Books (BOB). In BOB, students form groups with their peers and to compete in a fun book knowledge tournament.

Andersen Elementary School at 1900 Port Seabourne Way.

Only minutes away from Belcourt, Andersen Elementary School is a great primary schools for students in grades kindergarten through sixth. Andersen is a prestigious public school that has received the California Distinguished School award for 1987, 2002, 2008 and 2014. Instructors teach the core subject curriculum as well as the electives such as art and technology. This school has awesome extracurricular clubs and sports such as soccer, softball, robotics, and Spanish. The Spanish club at Andersen offer opportunities for students to learn conversational Spanish as well the play games and learn the history, art, music, and stories of the different Hispanic cultures

Middle Schools

Corona del Mar Middle School at 2985 Bear Street.

Students who live in the Belcourt area can attend the Corona del Mar Middle School. Parents favor this school because it has plenty of extracurricular activities such as after school programs and sports. The school administrators ensure that students that participate in these activities are able to successfully balance coursework and their activities outside of the classrooms. The after school sports programs that Corona del Mar Middle School offer include track, volleyball, basketball, cheerleading, soccer, and more. Ensign Intermediate School is a public school within the Newport-Mesa Unified School District that has dedicated teachers and staff members. These educators are passionate about teaching the youth about responsibility and the world around them. This school prepares students for high school experiences. Ensign has numerous extracurricular programs that enhance the students’ experiences. Staff members at this school value core curriculum and enrichment activities because they build character in students. Those who attend Ensign have the opportunity to sign up to take Spanish or French classes as an elective. Students can participate in cross country, volleyball, basketball, and more sports.

High Schools

Students who are in the Belcourt neighborhood have the option to enroll in Corona del Mar High School. Less than two miles away, traveling to and from this school will be a easy commute. College preparatory courses are offered at Corona del Mar, which is favorable to many of the parents. These courses including Advanced Placement courses give students the opportunity to experience first-hand what college courses will be like. Students can even earn college credit if they pass the final exams with a certain scores. Corona del Mar High School also has a great sports department for athletic students.

Back Bay High School, 390 Monte Vista Ave.

Although Back Bay High School is in Costa Mesa, Belcourt students still have the option to enroll in this high school. It is less than five miles away. Back Bay always has events and activities for students to enjoy and engage with staff members and fellow peers. This high school is an alternative education center for students in need of getting back on track with their school work. Also, Back Bay High School has hosted events including pie eating contests, spirit week, cookie contest, among others. This school not only provides these activities for students, but also parents and the community are able to participate.

Private Schools

Newport Christian School at 1000 Bison Avenue.

Newport Christian School is a private school that enrolls students in primary and secondary schools. Kindergarten through eleventh grade students are eligible. School officials are working towards having all grades available for students. This school has been expanding since it was established in 1980. Newport Christian School is one of the most popular private schools in the Newport Beach because it has various electives and student clubs to choose from. This school is a faith-based institution that combines Christian values and with secular standard curriculum. Students will study subjects such as foreign language, Bible, reading, writing, science, history, and mathematics.

Halstrom Academy – Newport Beach, 2302 Martin, Suite 100.

Halstrom Academy in Newport Beach is a school that serves students in middle and high school grades. This school takes into account that students sometimes have anxiety, learning challenges, or need additional guidance. Halstrom Academy staff members aim to meet those needs to make the environment more comfortable and allow students to grow at their own paces. Overview: This small and exclusive neighborhood is four miles inland from the Newport Beach coast. Belcourt is bordered by Bison Avenue, MacArthur Avenue, and Ford Road.
