Fullerton City Limits
History: Founded in 1887, Fullerton is now home to over an estimated 140,000 residents. The land that now encompasses Fullerton began to be settled by the Spanish in 1771, then the land was included in Rancho San Juan Cajón de Santa Ana before being sold to migrating Americans following the 1849 Gold Rush.
Throughout the 1800s and early 1900s, Fullerton was an agricultural center for orange and citrus crops, in addition to petroleum extraction and manufacturing. While Fullerton was officially incorporated during 1904, it took an additional 3 years to be officially recognized because of interstate conflicts. Today, Fullerton is largely considered to be one of the best cities in California to live in.
Fullerton’s population is economically and ethnically diverse, and residents tend to lean liberal when it comes to politics. Location: Fullerton is situated in Orange County’s northern corner and consists of approximately 22.44 square miles.
The city is located 25 miles southeast of Los Angeles’ downtown area. Additionally, Fullerton is just 11 miles northwest of Santa Ana, the county seat of Orange County, and Fullerton also is 11 miles northeast of the Pacific Ocean’s shore.
The Coyote Hills are found to the city’s north and west, while La Habra and Brea are neighboring cities found north of Fullerton. La Mirada is northwest of the city, and Buena Park can be found west of the city. Anaheim lies a short distance south, and Placentia is located east of Fullerton.

Fullerton benefits from having State Route 91 run east to west through the city’s southern areas. This roadway and Interstate 5, also known as Santa Ana Freeway, intersect towards the west.
