History: Garden Grove is a major city known for its convenient location near Orange County’s famous attractions, but the city itself also as a lot to offer.

Garden Grove has a rich history that began in 1874 when Alonzo Cook founded the early settlement. Garden Grove stayed a rural agricultural center roughly until 1905, when railroad tracks came to town.

In 1933, the town’s business district was heavily damaged by the Long Beach earthquake. Considerable progress, expansion, and overall development followed World War II. During 1956, Garden Grove was officially incorporated as a city. At the time, the population was estimated to be 44,000.

Specifically, Garden Grove is about 34 miles southeast of Los Angeles, and about 10 miles northwest of John Wayne Airport. Neighboring cities are popular Californian destinations.
