ABOUT Hudson
Hudson, Ohio began as a colony of Connecticut in 1632. Later, this area was known as the Connecticut Western Reserve. The Reserve was sold to a land syndicate in September of 1795.
In 1799, a survey team was sent to the area, and on June 26, David Hudson came to the land that would eventually become Hudson Township. David Hudson returned with his family to stay permanently on May 28, 1800. His house is still standing, and the settlement was officially named after the area’s first settler in 1802.
After the Civil War, the town’s population increased little by little. When 1900 rolled around, the population neared 940, then increased to 1,324 in 1930.
