Los Angeles is among the world’s busiest, largest, and most unique cities. In 2018, the city had a population of 3.99M. Los Angeles is California’s most populous city and is the second most populous in all of the U.S.
The early settlers of the territory that later became Los Angeles were indigenous tribes that included the Tongva and Chumash hunter-gatherers. On September 4, 1781, 44 village settlers of African, European, and Native American descent set up a farming village in the area known as “The Town of Our Lady the Queen of the Angels of Porciúncula.” In 1847 Los Angeles became part of the U.S.
