Seal Beach City Limits
Seal Beach is a coastal community in Orange County named after the seals that used to visit the coast. In the 1860s, the town became popular because of the shipping port called Anaheim Landing. Now a historical landmark, the Anaheim Landing also served as a seaside recreation spot. In the early 1900s, the town started with the name Bay City, but it was often confused with another Bay City in northern California. Seal Beach got its name officially when it was incorporated into a city in October 1915.
Businessman Philip Stanton is known as the father of Seal Beach. He led efforts to transform the city into an amusement resort. The seaside amusement park called Joy Zone featured a huge wooden roller coaster, carnival games, dance halls, and gambling parlors. Seal Beach has come a long way to become a quiet residential city. In 2013, Seal Beach was named by Forbes magazine as the fourth friendliest town in the U.S.

Location: Seal Beach is located in the westernmost part of Orange County. To the south is the Seal Beach National Wildlife Refuge. To the west are the Naval Weapons Station Seal Beach and the Pacific Inn. The Leisure World and the Hampton Inn & Suites are located in the northwestern part of the city. The east is bordered by the Bolsa Chica Road and Westminster Boulevard. The north is bordered by Seal Beach Boulevard and Lampson Avenue. Nearby communities are Long Beach, Huntington Beach, Westminster, West Garden Grove, Rossmoor, and Los Alamitos.
