History: West University Place is an expansive, affluent community located just a few minutes from downtown Houston in Harris County. The city was incorporated in 1940. Home to more than 15,000 people, West University Place is one of Houston’s most sought-after neighborhoods. Location: West University Place is located south of the Southwest Freeway and covers an area of about 2 square miles. To the north, the city is bordered by Bissonnet and Law Streets. To the west, the city is bordered by Community Drive. The West University Elementary and Xavier Educational Community are located in the center near the University Boulevard. To the east, the city is bordered by Kirby Drive. To the south, the city is bordered by Bellaire and West Holcombe Boulevards. Nearby communities include Southampton, Bellaire Junction, and Braeswood Place.
