Midway City City Limits
Midway City is considered as one of Orange County’s oldest communities. This once-rural community is so named because of its central location halfway between Seal Beach and Santa Ana. It is noted that in 1922, farmer John Harper was the first to maximize the area’s potential by laying out streets, installing sidewalks, and selling lots near Seal Beach, between Wintersburg and Gospel Swamp.
Much of Midway City was horse property up until the 1970s. In the 1980s, developers began to convert acres of land into several housing projects and master-planned communities. Location: Midway is located in Orange County, bordered by the cities of Westminster to its east and Huntington Beach to its west. Midway consists of four islands within an 832-acre rectangular boundary. The northeast island covers about 296 acres. It is bordered by Hazard Avenue, Hunter Lane, Jackson Street, and Beach Boulevard. The southwest island takes about 41 acres and it is bordered by McFadden Avenue, Cedarwood Avenue, Harhay Avenue, and Beach Boulevard. The southeast island covers 33 acres and it is bordered by Bolsa Avenue, Pacific Circle, and Pacific Street.
