Edgewater is among the neighborhoods that make up Cleveland’s West Side.

White residents account for about 56.4% of Edgewater’s total population. This is followed by African American residents accounting for 25.4%, and Latino residents accounting for about 8.2%.

The majority of schools serving Edgewater belong to the Cleveland Metropolitan School District. Some charter schools belong to the Hope Academy Northwest Campus School District.

The Cleveland Metropolitan School District manages 102 schools serving nearly 39,000 students in pre-kindergarten through 12th grade.

The district’s students get to participate in a number of advanced courses and extracurricular activities that include STEM mentorship programs, student theatre enrichment programs, visual arts, and culinary arts classes. Many of the district’s schools also offer multilingual and multicultural education.

The Hope Academy Northwest Campus School District serves more than 200 students in kindergarten through 8th grade with a student-teacher ratio of 21:1.

The district is known for its high diversity rankings, with an average minority enrollment of about 77% of the total student body.

Edgewater is home to more than 15,000 housing units and about 66.7% of these properties are renter-occupied.
